Clean Air Helps Everyone. It Helps Black Communities a Lot.

A new study quantified the benefits of pollution reduction in terms of race and class.  As noted in https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/24/climate/air-pollution-pm25-health-effects.html?smid=url-share, by tightening the limits on fine particulate matter from emitters like smokestacks, diesel trucks and power plants, the mortality rate for higher-income Black adults, lower-income white adults and lower-income Black adults would be reduced by 6 to 7 percent, and a 4 percent reduction in the mortality rate for higher-income white adults.
